Tip Sheet: Cultural Activities Applications

Typical culutral activities include performance (music, theatre and dance); film and video; spoken word (poetry and literature); and the visual arts. Some of the activities will happen in the Global Village, and some will happen through out the city of Vienna.

In previous conferences there was a separately organized cultural programme. For this conference the culutral activities will be a part of the Global Village Programme. For application guidelines and the on-line form, see the Global Village page on the main conference website.

Tips:

For examples of cultural activities in previous conferences, see the websites for Mexico, Toronto and Bangkok.

Consider joining others in your region in making your submission. Joint applications are stronger and show how communities can work together.

There will likely be a large number of applications submitted so plan your application well in advance of sending it.

If the application process allows you, consider sending in examples of your work (pictures, tapes, web addresses) to allow the reviewers to better understand your work.

Remember that being accepted does not guarantee that the conference will support your travel or registration to the conference. Consider fundraising to attend.

Dates to remember:

Global Village applications open 1 December 2009 and close 1 February 2010
