Arriving in Vienna
Visa information for entering Austria is in Travelling to Vienna.
Most delegates will fly to Vienna and arrive at Vienna Inetrnational Airport (VIE). Many will take the train from elsewhere in Europe and arrive at one of Vienna’s four train stations.
The airport is south of the city and a taxi to the centre will take 25 minutes and cost 30-40 euros. There is less expensive train and bus service to the centre including a rapid train (CAT: City Airport Train) which leaves three times an hour, takes 16 minutes and and costs 8 euros. A more local train (the S7) leaves twice an hour, takes 35 minutes and costs 3.40 euros. Both trains arrive at the Wien Mitte (Vienna Middle) station. For more information on getting to and from the airport see Vienna.info.com.
It is easy to get around Vienna by walking, plus the city has a efficient, safe and inexpensive system of buses, trams and subways. Further information is available at Vienna Public Transit or Vienna.info.com which also has plenty of tourist information about things to see and do.
The Conference Centre
The conference will be held at the Messe Wien Congress and Exhibition Centre located on the edge of the inner city in a neighbourhood called the Prater. It is 20 minutes from the historic centre of the city. The conference centre is easily accessed by public transportation. In the past the conference has organized bus service from different hotels but it is not known if this will be available. Keep checking the AIDS 2010 website for new information.
