Make time to meet new people. Networking and meeting people is one of the most valuable parts of attending the Conference.
Bring a large stack of business cards with your name, name of your organization and your position there , address, phone number and email on them. If you don’t have official business cards from your organization, make basic cards with a computer programme such as Word. If you use Office Word, click on “Help” and type in “business cards” – this will give you templates you can use. When you collect other people’s cards, take a minute to jot down a few notes on the back to remind yourself of where you met and what you talked about.
Networking Zones in the Global Village are spaces devoted to a specific group or issue (for example Sex Workers or people from the Caribbean). This is a great place to meet people interested in your issue. For more information see Networking Zones.
Tools that can help you to network include tools like Facebook and Twitter described under Social Media.
Regional Conferences are places where you can network in between International AIDS Conferences
